Family Light,
Body Image Project
Photograph from a Photographic projection by Catherine Greenwood
‘Family Light’ is from Catherine Greenwood’s Body Image series of Photographs and Photo Etchings created with mothers, fathers and babies from a Post Natal group who were adjusting to changes in themselves as individuals and how others may see them. The process of creating the projections and photographing the participants was liberating, transformative and celebratory; ‘Family Light’ captures the warmth of a close family bond and the wonder of a newborn.
Greenwood has continued to develop this series of images highlighting the beauty that can be found in the experience of motherhood, photographing pregnant mothers and same sex couples with their baby as their new family grows.
I am honoured to be asked to photograph people in this way, the projected images provide a distraction from self consciousness and at the same time provide a rare glimpse into the unconscious.”
Star Goddess
One mother of three boys, two of them at different ends of the Autistic spectrum, wanted to be covered in stars; I projected diamonds into a swimming pool and photographed her swimming into the light and a Star Goddess was born.
